Reema Syed, M.D.
Dr Reema Syed is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of diseases of the retina. She was born in Pakistan and completed her medical training at the prestigious Aga Khan Medical University. She has extensive postgraduate training including a research fellowship at University of California, San Francisco, ophthalmology residency at University of Louisville, Kentucky, and a further 2 year fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at University of Southern California and Los Angeles County Medical Center. Dr Syed practiced at the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group before returning to the Bay Area.
Throughout her career, Dr Syed has received several accolades such as the Charles C. Barr Resident Award and the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cambridge Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Her professional associations include memberships in notable organizations like the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
She has contributed significantly to the field through her research, including a groundbreaking study on Retinopathy of Prematurity in Pakistan, and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her scientific presentations at national and international meetings showcase her commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology. Outside of medicine, she spends time with her husband and a young family. She is fluent in English, Urdu and Hindi.
